If you’re ready to enjoy a quiet retreat amid sea breeze and friendly people, then make your way to Clifden.

Located at the edge of Galway, Ireland, Clifden rests between the Twelve Ben Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. This longtime fishing village sailed beneath the radar for years. Now, thanks to its beautiful surroundings and numerous sites to visit, Clifden tourism is booming. Where else can you check out the ruins of ancient castles, go fishing and scuba diving, and follow it up with an afternoon of shopping in the boutiques downtown?

If you’re a nature lover, you can wander the green pathways around Clifden for hours. Go walking or biking, or hire a boat to take you out into the harbor. To really get the most out of Clifden sightseeing, rent a car and make your way along the Sky Road. It’s a long, winding trip, and often very windy, but you’ll take in astonishing views of Clifden and its surrounding bay. After you’ve snapped a few pictures, head back down into town to continue your Clifden tour and grab some grub. The town’s numerous restaurants and pubs are sure to offer up something to whet your appetite.
